Scottish Writers’ Hub Opens This Week

Thursday 5th April 2-5pm at the CCA, 350 Sauchiehall Street, Glasgow

We’re really excited about this new development in the life of the Scottish Writers’ Centre. This Thursday we will be showing a short TED talk with Elizabeth Gilbert on ‘Nurturing Creativity’ just after 2pm in the clubroom. There will be discussions afterwards with free deskspace where you can work. You can also have a look at the new SWC library.

Sorry I can’t be there for the opening but hope it’s a huge success.
All the best

Is there any intention of having online or travelling events? If not should this really be called the Glasgow writers centre I wonder?

Thanks Kriss. It’s a regular feature of the SWC’s calendar so hopefully you’ll make it along in the future.

Hello Anni. The Scottish Writers’ Centre has every intention of moving out across Scotland to arrange events with local co-ordinators, once we have consolidated our presence at our base in Glasgow. Presently we are run solely by volunteers and our main source of funding is from GlasgowLife and we are therefore restricted to organising events here. We have recently taken on experienced volunteers to form a Funding sub-committee who will work on securing funding from other sources to facilitate a wider-reaching programme. This will take some time. Meanwhile we have had another volunteer filming our ‘In Process’ Master-classes over the past few months and once these are edited, they will be uploaded to the SWC website and to YouTube. When these are ready for viewing we will let everyone know.

If you have any ideas or suggestions or can offer help in any way to help establish our future outreach programme we would love to hear from you.

Many thanks for your patience.
